FAQ’s
How do I register?
Registration for Fall 2026 begins in January 16th 2026. Click here for Registration.
Can I take a tour of the school?
Yes, you can call 703-729-4673 or sign up to schedule a tour. We do not do walk-in tours.
Does my child have to be potty-trained?
Yes, all students have to be potty-trained. This means they will have to wear underwear to school (no diapers or pull-ups), and be able to go into the bathroom, use the bathroom, clean themselves, and pull up their clothing. Our teachers can help with zippers or buttons, but CANNOT physically assist children with cleaning themselves. If a child has regular accidents at school, they may not be allowed to remain enrolled.
Can my child be enrolled in two regular class sessions?
Once children are placed in a class, they stay in that class all school year. Children do not attend more than one class (other than enrichment or afterschool opportunities).
What are the options for enrichment and before/afterschool opportunities?
Please refer to the Classes/Tuition section for specific details. Once the school year concludes at the end of May, HOPE will offer three weeks of summer camp for current students only (not open to the public). The school will then be closed until September.
Can you tell me more about the bilingual class?
This is the first year we are offering a bilingual class as part of our program. Students will spend half of the day learning in Spanish and the other half in English. The lead teacher is fluent in Spanish, providing students with an engaging and supportive bilingual learning environment.
Children do not need to speak Spanish at home or have prior Spanish experience to participate in the class. This program is a wonderful opportunity for students who may later apply to the LCPS Dual Language Immersion Program at Sanders Corner Elementary or Potowmack Elementary Schools.
How is class placement determined?
Students must meet the required age by the start of their first day of school to be eligible for their class level. Children are placed in classes based on their birthdates and the class session requested on the application.
We maintain specific classroom ratios (either 12 or 16 children with 2 teachers). Once a class has reached capacity, no additional students can be placed in that class.
If I don’t get my first choice of class placement, can I switch?
Up until August, class switches may be possible if there are spots still open. Please call 703-729-4673 to discuss this. Once school has begun, children remain in their assigned classes for the entire school year.
Does your calendar match the Loudoun County Public School (LCPS) calendar?
HOPE Preschool follows the LCPS calendar for federal holidays, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break. However, we do not close for LCPS teacher workdays, student holidays, or observances not included in our school calendar.
What if my child has a food allergy or dietary restriction?
Children with food allergies or dietary restrictions are welcome at HOPE Preschool. Families of children with food allergies will be asked to provide a daily snack for their child.
Our school strives to maintain a peanut- and tree nut-free environment; however, we do not monitor foods for other allergens such as dairy, soy, wheat, or eggs. In addition, Crossroads United Methodist Church occasionally uses the classrooms for events outside of school hours. While the church also aims to remain peanut- and tree nut-free, it relies on volunteers who may not always be aware of our policies. For this reason, HOPE Preschool may not be the best fit for children with severe airborne allergies.
Children enrolled in extended day classes who bring lunch must also follow our allergy guidelines. If your child has a physician-prescribed EpiPen or Auvi-Q device, parents must provide the medication to be kept in the classroom. Any device that expires during the school year must be replaced promptly.
If your child has a dietary restriction, such as a vegetarian diet, the teacher will work with your family individually to create an appropriate snack-time plan.
How do you keep the school secure?
The safety and security of our students and staff are a top priority at HOPE Preschool. Once morning arrival is complete, all exterior doors surrounding the school portion of the building are locked. Preschool and church staff are provided with keys and electronic key fobs for authorized access.
All preschool and church staff complete federal background checks. In addition, preschool staff complete state-required background checks, fingerprinting, and child abuse awareness training. Preschool staff also wear photo identification badges each day.
All visitors are required to sign in upon arrival and wear a visitor badge while in the building.
To help ensure preparedness, the school conducts regular fire drills with students, and staff members receive training in intruder response procedures. (Intruder drills are not conducted with students, as they may be confusing or distressing for young children.)
The preschool is also inspected annually by Loudoun County Fire Marshal, Loudoun County Health Department, and Virginia Department of Social Services to ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing standards.

What curriculum do you use?
We do not follow a required or standardized curriculum. Instead, we empower our talented teachers to design engaging classroom experiences tailored to the needs and interests of their students. Our staff collaborates regularly by sharing ideas and resources, using a play-based, interactive, and center-based approach to learning.
Because of our low teacher-to-student ratios, we are able to provide individualized attention and support for each child. Classroom themes and activities are often inspired by the seasons, holidays, and topics such as animals, habitats, nature, the alphabet, numbers, patterns, and the community.
All classes include a daily Circle Time featuring activities such as calendar, weather, attendance, and story time, as well as daily outdoor playground time. Students also participate in music class once each week with a dedicated music teacher.
Throughout the year, children enjoy a variety of special events and enrichment opportunities, including monthly puppet shows, community service projects, field trips, visits from special guests such as the fire department and dentists, holiday celebrations, and fundraising events.
Can parents be involved or volunteer?
We welcome and encourage parent involvement at HOPE Preschool. Families are invited to attend holiday celebrations throughout the year, as well as a special spring event honoring parents.
Parents are welcome to chaperone field trips and attend our monthly puppet shows. Each classroom also has volunteer room parents who assist teachers and help coordinate special activities. Teachers may invite parents to visit the classroom to participate in activities that complement current lessons or events.
Some teachers may also request volunteer assistance with classroom support tasks such as making playdough, washing shared toys, or bringing library books to class.
When do tuition payments start?
Tuition payments begin in August and continue through April each school year. Payments are due on the 1st of each month and must be received by the 10th to avoid a late fee.
Please note that the August tuition payment is non-refundable and cannot be applied toward future payments.
If you have additional questions about our tuition policy, please contact our office at 703-729-4673.
